Favorite Posts Of 2025
I have a tradition of doing this favorite posts roundup post on the last day of the year. I’ve done this going back to at least 2014 (though it looks like I missed 2016 for some reason).
These are “favorites” – what does that mean?
Well, some are those that got the most views – or the biggest stories from a news perspective. Some were simply engaging or notable or just odd topics. Others are my own personal favorites.
As you see, “favorite” is used loosely.
As usual, it’s a mix of news (some “feel good” stories, though not always), my own and others’ visits to Amish communities, peeks inside Amish homes, singing and other videos, Amish stores, and more.
This year I was happy to see – if my math is right – we averaged very nearly one post per day, a total of 364 for the year (including this one). That I believe is a record for this site.
Most were done by me, but with several from regular contributor Joe Donnermeyer, as well as great photo sets and community visits by Jim Halverson and Don Burke, among others – not to mention several series of posts by newcomer Haley Straw.
So without further ado, here are favorites from 2025, in more-or-less chronological order. And thank you, as always, for your comments, emails, and for reading and sharing this site with others. That helps more than you might know. And finally, have a Happy New Year!

What are you doing here today….shouldn’t you be watching Duke? LOL! I enjoyed each one equally can’t say I like any of the articles over the other….I enjoyed seeing them all and will really miss them but that’s part of life we have to move on! I will be in the center of it all so if I don’t get it from here it will come from someone in the community or the Budget! Happy New Year!
