Amish Farmer Meets Cybertruck

File this one under “fun stuff”. A story is going around the internet about a Tesla Cybertruck owner stopping in and “amaz[ing]” an Amish farmer with the vehicle.

While that’s not particularly remarkable (“Amish person amazed by some piece of modern tech” is a common basis for news stories and memes), I guess I’m posting this because I really enjoy the photo:

This is from someone named Ugur Salli, who shared it in this Facebook post, saying that “The farmer was amazed by the Cybertruck. He couldn’t belive that there was no traditional engine block under the hood.”

If you’ve seen the Cybertruck, it’s about the most attention-getting vehicle on the road today. They’re certainly not everywhere, but you see them around, more so in urban areas.

It’s known for its futuristic design, which – maybe fittingly in this case – is really more “retro-futuristic” (as well outlined here).

I can see why this machine would get an Amish farmer’s interest. The metallic chrome exterior is not exactly Lancaster buggy gray, but as opposed to some paint schemes, it would blend in pretty nicely.

Maybe one day self-driving Cybertrucks (or their descendants) will be a thing in some Amish communities, though I don’t think we should hold our breath on that.

The closest you’ll get in the near term is probably going to be someone of Amish heritage driving one.

    Amishman Sees Cybertruck

Forgive me for saying as much, but I’ve always thought the Cybertruck is just ugly, ugly, ugly. Lol. But I can see why an Amishman driving a horse & buggy would find it interesting. Thanks, Erik.

    Don't drive an ugly truck

There may be more unsightly vehicles than the Cybertruck, but I haven’s seen it. The buggy and it’s owner have more class than Musk or his truck.

    Self driving car

I think Musk was brought up Amish.
    Great truck design

    Bad origami

In our family we call these abominations bad origami. Ugly, ugly, ugly. We live in a town with a Tesla dealership. So many cars have been forced on the dealership by the company, the dealer has leased parking space at the local mall. There are literally hundreds of Teslas in that mall parking lot. No one wants to buy them. Henry Ford did the same thing in 1927 when he stopped making the Model T. He used up all the parts on hand, built a few thousand cars and shipped them to dealers who had to accept them based on their contract with the company. About a year later, the Model A was introduced and the Model T backlog was worthless to the dealers. But, old Henry got paid!

Why would you buy Tesla truck

Tesla truck has been banned in many countries due to safety concerns and regulatory compliance.
The truck has also been subject to significant recalls due to various defects, including issues with exterior panels detaching while driving and other mechanical problems. Such recalls not only affect the vehicle’s safety but also its marketability. In other words its a waste of money.

    “amazed”

It should probably be noted that the average Amish person’s ability to read far exceeds that of the average American… so, while no Amish person will own a cyber truck, the chances of them being surprised/amazed by their existence is slim to none. If they put on a show and pretended to be shocked that an electric vehicle exists without a combustion engine under the hood, and someone actually bought it…I tip my round flat hat to that man!!
