Amish Homes

For this latest Amish home we look north of the border – at just the second Canadian Amish home we’ve seen here. The first was a very plain home in the Lucknow, Ontario community back in 2022. This one is in Centre Hastings, about five minutes from the village of Stirling in eastern Ontario. The home is on a roughly 67-acre property, with about 25…

This is our third look this year at an Amish property in the Randolph community of Pontotoc County, Mississippi. Back in April we toured a 54-acre homestead with a furniture shop, and in June we looked at another home on 45 acres. At that time, I asked whether the community might be disbanding, seeing so many homes go up for sale (four at the time)…

This week’s Amish home is located in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. It’s our second look at a home in this area this year, after this eight-bedroom, one-bathroom home back in February. This one is a bit smaller, but not by much. It has six bedrooms and (once again) just one bathroom. It’s a good size and has what the listing calls “oversized” rooms. It’s 3,150 square feet on a…

I’ll start by saying that I love this week’s home. Now, I’m not saying I’d love to live there (let’s just say it’s “very Amish”). But as far as visual appeal of an Amish property goes, this is one of my favorites we’ve seen. Why? One reason is clear without even looking too close at the details: its vibrant color. Reds, blues, purples, set off against warm browns…

This Amish home in Conewango Valley, New York was listed in mid-August at $120,000. Two weeks later, the price has dropped into the five figures (current price revealed at the end – as is our custom on these home posts 🙂 ). If that sounds inexpensive, be aware we’re looking at one of the plainest of all Amish groups. That means very basic amenities –…

The listing for this Amish home in Marshfield, Missouri opens in all capitals: “STEP BACK IN TIME AND BRING IT TO PRESENT DAY YOUR OWN WAY.” On one level, that’s a funny thing to say about a house that was only built in 2021. It’s not an old farmhouse that time forgot. And as you can see from these exterior photos, it does have a…

This Amish home listing in Frazeysburg, Ohio contains the description “some of the most beautiful farm ground you can imagine.” Hard to argue after seeing these lovely photos. The property is 25 acres with the Wakatomika Creek running right along its western edge (visible in the photo below). The presence of an icehouse building (we’ll see that farther down) suggests this is an Amish group…

The first thing you’ll notice about this Amish home is that it just keeps going. It’s one of the longest homes we’ve featured in this series. A low, stretched-out ranch style that’s half-home, and half-three-door garage. More on that garage in a minute – it’s doing more than just buggy storage. This one is in Madison County, Iowa, just outside Winterset. It’s a small Amish…

Back in April we featured an Amish homestead for sale in the Randolph community of Pontotoc County, Mississippi – one of only two Amish settlements in the entire Deep South. Not too long after that post went up, a reader named William left a comment: “There are 3 Amish homes for sale in that area. We’re looking to potentially relocate to the area and are…

A lot of things are jumping out about this Amish home listing in Guernsey County, Ohio — starting with the fact that you might drive right past it thinking it’s a commercial building. More on that in a minute. As to the locale, this home sits in one of the most Amish-dense counties in the United States (at least when it comes to number of…
