Inside A Picture-Perfect Pennsylvania Amish Home (22 Photos)

While the exterior is on the plain side (it’s a plainer community), and a bit unfinished…the interior of this Pennsylvania Amish home is simply picture-perfect.

The community is New Wilmington, PA, where we’ve gone for several previous looks at Amish homes. You’ll see as we look inside the home lots of the characteristic shades of blue common to this community.

The settlement is also known for its distinct brown-topped buggies, among other things.

Here’s the description via the Zillow listing:
Escape to a simpler way of life with this 6 bed, 0.5 bath charming Amish farmhouse, nestled on 1.25 acres of serene countryside.
Surrounded by farmland yet conveniently close to New Wilmington, this property offers an opportunity to embrace off-grid living without sacrificing accessibility. Step inside to discover spacious rooms filled with natural light, featuring beautiful hardwood floors that bring warmth and character to the space.
The first-floor layout includes a kitchen & large pantry, dining room, & living room, along with a convenient first-floor bedroom. The property is already equipped with well water, a septic tank, and a large (16’x14′) attached room for storing wood for the wood burner.
The views are absolutely breathtaking. Imagine starting your mornings with stunning sunrises & ending your days with vibrant sunsets, all from the comfort of your own property. This is more than a home—it’s a lifestyle rooted in simplicity, authenticity, & natural beauty.
Let’s have a look inside.
Inside the Home
We’ll start with the kitchen, in the area where food prep is done and dishes are stored.

The little stove uses kerosene, which is what you find in the plainer communities for heating/lighting (rather than propane or natural gas).

Pantry area, everything neat and tidy.

Here we see the dining area, main cook stove, and sink area. That sink is near the door, making it convenient to use for washing up after coming in the house from chores.

If this is a six-bedroom home, this is probably a good-sized and maybe still growing Amish family. At the kitchen table there are four chairs along with a bench, where you can park three or four little ones.

This angle shows the same space with a glimpse of the staircase to second floor (the door next to it is probably the stairs down to basement), and some attractive curtains marking the entrance to the living area. That is not something I’ve seen a lot of in these homes, and seems to be an additional beautifying touch.

The cozy, inviting living room.

That little wood stove will heat this place nicely in winter months. If you look through the doorway into the next room (parents’ bedroom) you can see a treadle sewing machine which looks like it may have been converted into a table (note the oil lamp on top).

There are six bedrooms in the home. Here is a look at the parents’ room which we saw in the above photo. And raise your hand if you’re noticing a color theme in this home 🙂

These might be the prettiest rooms in the home.

And one more.

I hope you’re seeing what I meant when I called this home “picture-perfect” (and I know I’ve used that description already on some Amish homes before, but it just fits).
Here’s the basement, which looks like it had been cleaned out when the photo was taken.

Wash room.

And vibrantly-colored stock of canned goods.

The home also has an outhouse which – and I hesitate to call an outhouse interior “picture-perfect” too – is quite aesthetically pleasing in its own way. The color scheme definitely matches the rest of the place.

Back outside, a shot of the spacious front porch offering an expansive view:

There are several aerial photos of the property. The lot is not huge – just 1.25 acres – but I think you would feel like it’s bigger than that, given that the nearest neighbors are a good ways off:

And they also include the floor plan (check out the rest of it at the listing link, this is the ground floor):

So how much is this 2,688-square foot home?

It’s currently available at a price of $350,000, listed by Kellie Hinderliter of Coldwell Banker Realty. Nice place!

group outhouse?
Question: The outhouse looks like a two-seater. They’re not big on privacy here?
