This one is a bit different in that it had a pretty good chance of ending badly.
Someone was apparently driving through Lancaster County late at night when a buggy came out of nowhere and entered the roadway in a most dangerous way. It was all caught on the driver’s dashcam.
Here’s the description of what happened from the Viral Hog YouTube channel, assumedly by the unnamed person who filmed it:
“I had just left my house, heading to Baltimore, Maryland. This happened on the road that I live on. I was going down the hill when the horse and buggy ran out in front of me and drifted around the corner. I found the guy that was driving the buggy and talked to him about it. They were getting ready for a wedding and the family was in there a while and he was hooking it up when a strap came down and hit the horse in the butt which spooked the horse. Luckily no one was hurt.”
I saw a claim or two somewhere online that this was done intentionally. The above back story feels rather incomplete but I guess is plausible. It also looks like a really risky maneuver all things considered to be done just for kicks. But that’s not necessarily going to stop someone out for some fun, Amish or English.
Anyway, good that no one was hurt or killed here. I guess take this as a pro-defensive driving (is that now an archaic term?) video, be it in Amish Country or elsewhere.
