Inside A “Life-in-Progress” Amish Home (12 Photos)

Some Amish homes we see are spick-and-span clean, staged to look beautiful for their photo shoots.

In others, Amish family life is captured in all its messy glory. This home belongs to group #2.

Here’s the description of this Wisconsin Amish home:

Amish farmette. Trophy white tail and turkey hunting with Grant River across the road. Fences around property line. Natural spring. Land levels off up on top with possible more tillable or food plots. Lots of brushy valleys for deer sanctuary.

Large 2400 sq ft farmhouse has well and septic but no electricity. Power lines run behind house for electric hook up. Large workshop with 2 levels. 2 story barn with loft. Other outbuildings. Highly sought after hunting ground in Grant County Driftless area.

As the home blurb emphasizes, this is hunting country. The home itself is nicely situated on a hillside. The community is in Grant County, home to five different Amish settlements.

Looking inside, there are not a ton of photos, but you can see that life was fully in progress when someone showed up to take these shots.

Can you tell what’s cooking on the stove? Boots kicked off on the floor. Dishes look like they have been recently washed. The open wooden bin next to the stove likely holds wood to fuel it.

Another neat shot from the kitchen table shows us a black bonnet set down amid some other assorted items, including some sort of publication, dishware and some health supplements. Classic mish-mash of chairs, probably added as the family expanded in size.

A look in the pantry shows us a lot is going on in here too. You might be lost here, but mom probably knows where everything she might need is.

And likely, these abundant canning jars will soon be filled with veggies, fruit, and even meat:

There are several bedroom photos. In this first one, we see a plant stand and a crib. It’s a plainer Amish home by the way, as you can see by the unfinished windows, and kitchen flooring. But the home apparently has one bathroom. So not the plainest.

Pleasant color combination of that quilt. The room looks like it was about halfway-tidied up.

And another bedroom with a crib. It appears that this family has started to outgrow the home.

That’s it for the interior photos. Outside there are a number of outbuildings, including this buggy shed.

Here’s the two-level workshop mentioned in the description. I imagine the man of the house has some sort of woodworking or other manufacturing business on the top level.

It is on a large, 36-acre lot. This is part of the hunting appeal.

Lot of wooded area as you see in this property layout image. Though I didn’t see much in the way of trophies or other signs that this is a hunting family. So what is the price of this property?

It’s currently on the market for $379,900. Represented by Gerald Adametz of Jon Miles Real Estate. Check out more Amish homes here.

    Home life

It’s good to see home that is lived in. If it’s too neat it’s a house, this is a home

    That lived in look

Looks like a freshly ironed kapp on the China hutch, too. Interesting photos.
