Comment on Amish Fry Pies by Al in Ky..
I really like fry pies and have bought them in several Amish
communities. I’ve found that the price varies anywhere from
$1.00 each to $2.50 each. My favorite flavor is blackberry.
I also like Snitz pies. Several times I’ve been on farmsteads
of Amish families in the Orleans, Indiana, settlement, on a
Friday or Saturday of the Sunday that family is to host church.
Several times I’ve been given a snitz pie, which are good but
don’t seem as heavy or with as much filling as a fry pie. Last
time I was given one I thanked ‘Sarah’ but also said I hoped it
didn’t take away from what she needed to serve her church. She
said,”Oh Al, don’t worry — my kids told me to make at least 30
extra so they’d have some for snacks next week!”

stores/farms …

Amish Mystery Supper Really enjoyed this post. I read quite often in The Budget about

Is Amish life really so “simple”? I did not realize all that’s involved in the “simple” lifestyle of
many Amish until I became friends with several Swartz. and conservative Old Order Amish families. Several times, I’ve had the
opportunity to just “stay awhile” and observe life on …
