    modular homebuilders in Oklahoma

    Dear Sir

I have a good friend who has his daughter come home from California and he needs a place for her. He mentioned to me that the Amish or Mennonite community has a modular home building company somewhere close to N.E. Oklahoma and he would like to find it so he can purchase a home for his daughter.
I have looked on the internet but can not find what I seek and I hope you can direct me to the right people. Any help would be appreciated.

Looking for Amish furniture maker in WI, IL, IN, MN, IA

    Hello everyone,

Can anyone help me locate any Amish wood makers in the midwest? I need to have some work done and I do not want to go through any of the large resellers. I would much rather go through the maker directly.
    Any help would be great.

Amish furniture makers in the Midwest

Shamcy there are a lot of Amish woodworkers in those states and I imagine your choice would probably depend on various things including location and work you wanted done. Our Amish furniture directory lists both Amish manufacturers and retailers. http://amishamerica.com/amish-furniture/

Illinois and Indiana are two states that come to mind where I know we have quite a few makers listed (on these lists Amish or in some cases “likely Amish” furniture builders are marked by an (A) next to the name):

Thank you Eric for the response.

I am looking to have some furniture made. I want to deal directly with the wood maker and not the middle man, retailer or broker. I know the Amish can not market and sell their own furniture due to their belief system and because of that, they usually go through a retailer who usually adds on a hefty margin. I have a budget and with the retailer’s markup, Amish furniture is out of my range and my business would, reluctantly, have to go towards a mass produced product that was made somewhere in Asia.
Is there a way for me to get in touch directly with some woodmaker(s)? I live in the Milwaukee area so I am willing to deal with anyone within 150 miles from where I am.
        Any help is much appreciated.

          Locating builders of Amish furniture

Yes, as far as getting in touch many of the businesses I am pointing you towards have phone #s listed, just check those pages I mentioned above, plus pretty much every state has a listing off the main directory page if you want to see others.

The ones in IL and IN are probably beyond your 150 mile range, though some may be close depending what side of Milwaukee you are on. If so check other states, Wisconsin’s listing at present unfortunately mostly has retailers only, would like to fill that one out with more manufacturers’ info as I get ahold of it.

WI has numerous sizeable communities which should have Amish furniture manufacturers (Vernon County, Monroe County, Kingston/Dalton area, to name some of the most heavily settled areas in WI), look at this guide for more detailed info on WI Amish communities: http://amishamerica.com/wisconsin-amish/

…or this 2013 academic paper listing communities for each state: http://kb.osu.edu/dspace/bitstream/handle/1811/57700/JAPAS_Donnermeyer_Luthy_vol1-issue2_pp107-129.pdf?sequence=1

Many if not most Amish businesses have some sort of phone associated with the business. May belong solely to the business or shared with other households, in many (but not all) cases you just leave a voice mail and your call is returned.

    Texas Builders?

    Hi Erik,
I’m in Central Texas (near Frederiksburg)looking for an Amish company to build my new home. My last home in Pa. was finely built by a wonderful Amish builder near Lancaster. I would love to have that type of craftsmanship here. Any ideas?

      Central Texas builder

Allison this is a late reply but in your area, you are probably too far from Amish–there is one community in your state, but I kind of doubt they would be what you are looking for. On rare occasions Amish do travel and stay in an area for an extended time but for a job that takes as long as building a new home it would probably be a hard sell, unless the price was really right. Sorry I don’t have better news.

    Michigan Pole Barn

We had a barn fire in March 2014. We have tried to locate a contractor through horse friends and have not been successful. It has been 3 months and we are getting anxious as horses need a home. Any suggestions on an Amish contractor in the rural Ann Arbor area? Rebuild is a 56 x 40 pole barn that will be attached to remaining structure that survived. This is on a concrete slab that is already there.

Looking to build a barn from salvaged barns in Bristol NY

    Hello Erik/Amish America

I am buying one barn and having it delivered. There are two other barns up the hill from my property that I would like to salvage. and bring down the hill if the owners are willing.

I hope to have a 2 story 30’x50′ Bank Barn built into the hill with a third story storage of . I will have a foundation already built I think.

This project will happen in the fall and if all goes well a similar project to build a post and beam house next year on the same property.

Are there crews in my area that you could recommend? There is a camper that sleeps 6 on the premises if that helps…
