    Pinecraft Auctions

Does anyone know if there are auctions held in the Pinecraft Florida area. Seems to me I heard about one in the Spring a few years ago. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Palm Grove Quilt Sale, Gospel Express Auction

Debbie, you asked about auctions in the Pinecraft or Sarasota, Florida, area.
-Feb. 4 – 7, 2015 is the Annual Palm Grove Church Quilt Sale. $2 admission donation for charity to a Haiti Mission Project. Items are priced for sale.

-Sarasota Christian School’s 56th Annual Auction will be held February 20 & 21, 2015. These are more-liberal Mennonites, but usually some quilts are sold.

-Feb. 28, 2015 is the Gospel Express Benefit Auction.

Comment on Any "traveling" sales? (October 28th, 2014 at 13:02)

    Any "traveling" sales?

As usual, I can’t make any of these (but will appreciate any comments/photos from those who do attend), but I am curious to know whether anyone has ever heard of any “traveling” Amish sales? (Meaning traveling more than just a few miles in a localized area.)I know that there are hundreds of “crafters” (English) who travel the “craft sales” circuit in my area (Northern IL, Southern WI), reserving space at Spring & Fall (as an example) craft shows which are held at local schools, churches, hotels, etc. They’re usually pretty well attended, and I often see the same crafters at different locations in my area, year after year. I would think that if several Amish districts could consolidate various crafts, furniture, quilts, home-canned items, load it all up in a commercial vehicle, and come to a large venue here, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if everything could be sold in a day. If the Amish themselves were the sales people at such an event, I’m sure that would help ensure their success.

Just wondering if anything like this goes on…I’d make it a point to attend!

I appreciate seeing these event lists and all it takes to produce them. Thank you!

      Mobile Amish Sales

I haven’t heard of what you describe among the Amish Alice Mary, what comes to mind when I think travel and sales with the Amish is the permanent PA Dutch markets in cities like Baltimore and Philadelphia. Not the same thing, I know, but it shows you Amish business people are willing to go a distance to market their products. Maybe this is an idea for someone.

I’d like to pass the thanks on to our anonymous compiler who has been doing the heavy lifting on these lists since May.

Thanks as always, for this listing. I would think in December there will be several Amish Christmas Consignment Auctions. I believe the communities in Cross Plains, Indiana, and Munfordville,
Kentucky will again be having theirs. I’ll send on the dates if I learn of them.
