Ben & Rose: “Roses In The Snow” (Full Song & Video)

We’ve heard this one before – but now there’s a video for it as well. In July Ben & Rose put out a short demo clip of “Roses In The Snow”, after which the studio version was released on their album “Slowly But Surely”.

This song was made famous by Emmylou Harris and was written by Ruth Franks. It’s a short but sweet one with an upbeat feel paired with a sorrowful-though-hopeful story. Here are the lyrics:

Roses in the Snow

I met my darlin′ in the springtime
When all the flowers were in bloom
And like the flowers our love blossomed
We married in the month of June

Our love was like a burning ember
It warmed us as the cold winds blow
We had sunshine in December
And grew our roses in the snow

Now God has taken my darlin’
And left me with memory
One memory I will always cherish
Are these last words he said to me

Our love was like a burning ember
It warmed us as the cold winds blow
We had sunshine in December
And grew our roses in the snow

My darlin′s buried on the hillside
Where all the wild spring flowers grow
And when the winter snow start fallin’
On his grave, I’ll place a rose

Our love was like a burning ember
It warmed us as the cold winds blow
We had sunshine in December
And grew our roses in the snow

I know people enjoy the music – but enjoy it even more with a video, so I’m glad they put this one out. And though it’s a song with a sad undertone, I like seeing the smiles in this one.

Thanks for that Erik – it’s a lovely song, beautifully sung. The love between Ben and Rose is clear to see, and adds to the video too.
