Amish Auction Crowd: 12 More Photos

Whom will you see at an Amish auction? Last month Jim Halverson gave us a look at an Amish auction in central Michigan – in the Beaverton area of Gladwin County, to be precise. Jim is so prolific in his photo-taking that we have an additional dozen photos from the event.

As mentioned before, the community is a Swartzentruber group, but the auction drew some Amish attendees from beyond this settlement. There are mostly Amish people here, though some English folks showed up as well. That is normal for most Amish auctions.

You can see that in this next photo here – an Amish woman from a more progressive group in a white kapp, among a group of Swartzentruber ladies wearing the more formal black bonnets.

If you remember the long row of Singer sewing machines from the previous photo set, here we have a look from another angle. You’ll also notice the array of lamps for sale. I reckon these ladies have their eyes on some nice finds.

Amish auctions are a place for young and old, and everyone in between.

If you recall the silhouette shot from the previous set, here is the same fellow hanging out with friends (and goats, I think).

There’s always time for socializing.

Is this the “cool crew”? 🙂

Slightly older cool crew.

Looks like these fellows are about ready to leave.

And looks like they’re heading home. Hope it was a good day.

And, I hope you enjoyed these photos. If you missed Part 1, check out the other 12 photos here.
