New Ben & Rose Song: “When You Say Nothing At All”

Amish Country music couple Ben and Rose are back with a new cover: “When You Say Nothing At All”.

This is a more modern-feeling country song and more along the lines of a soft ballad.

The video description tells us that it “was written by Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz and most famously sung by Allison Krauss.”

In the video, it’s Rose singing lead…

…with Ben on guitar and backup vocals.

As with their previous songs, this was produced by the great Conrad Fisher at Ragamuffin Hall in Juniata County, PA.

For the video, it looks like Conrad got the drone out for some awesome wintertime footage flying over the snowy farms and landscapes of beautiful central Pennsylvania.

Beautiful song. Have a listen here!

Keith Whitley made the first recording of “When You Say Nothing at All” which topped Billboard’s Country Singles chart in 1988. Another excellent recording of a sweet song.

Beautiful – and I love the way they look at each other as they sing – their love reflects the lyrics.

    Beautiful cover

It’s just refreshing to hear the lovely voice of Rose with that slight Amish twang and Ben’s strong but soft backup. They fill a nitch in the music world that so many enjoy and appreciate. Alison Krauss has been singing such soft ballads since she she started out as a teenager and she has won 28 Grammy’s, the most of any female artist! A very moving song she sung “Jacob’s Dream” would be an awesome cover for Ben and Rose to record next. The song was based on the true story of a heartbreaking event that occurred in the spring of 1856 known as “The Lost Children of the Alleghenies”. It’s a somber story and if you are ever in that part of PA, it’s worth a visit to the incident sight and burial grounds.
