Ben & Rose New Release: “The Robin & The Eggs” (Full Song)

We got a preview of this song two weeks ago. Now Amish couple Ben & Rose have released the full version of “The Robin & The Eggs”. Neat to hear and see the full version after the teaser!

Many – but of course not all – of Ben and Rose’s songs have an upbeat feel to them.

But as mentioned on the preview clip, this is a mournful song about a robin who has lost eggs from her nest. The song was written by their producer Conrad Fisher.

“I know why the Robin is crying, said Wren with a sob in her breast. Her poor heart is achin’, for someone has taken, three little blue eggs from her nest,” they sing.

Joining Ben and Rose on this song is Jason Barrie on fiddle. As before, this was recorded at Ragamuffin Hall in Juniata County, Pennsylvania.

In the video, we’re treated to some soaring, stunning views (I assume thanks to Conrad’s drone work). And “soaring” is quite apt for a song about a bird.

The song ends with a “do unto others” message…”for in Heaven above, always watching in love, there looks down an all-seeing eye.”

I also found it interesting to compare the studio version to the rawer demo version we got in the preview. I like both! Enjoy a listen of the song here:
