Buying Amish Beds in Illinois

With one of the most important Amish manufacturing communities in the state, Illinois residents have an opportunity to purchase Amish-made beds direct from the source.  The Amish settlement at Arthur, in central Illinois (about 3 hours from Chicago) is home to around 4,500 Amish.  Woodworking is the primary means of making a living for many local Amish families.  Wood shops abound along the many roads and lanes throughout this community.

Some Amish bed buyers visit shops in person, to place a custom order in some cases.  It’s good to keep in mind that some Amish craftsmen provide retail beds, while others only sell on a wholesale basis.  There are other, much smaller communities found throughout the state as well, in some of which can be found Amish wood craftsmen.

The state is home to many Amish furniture retailers, a number of whom sell Amish beds in convenient showrooms located near major population centers.  Amish bed dealers will work with Amish craftsmen (often those in Illinois, though potentially from other states such as Indiana or Ohio) to maintain a selection of Amish bedroom furniture including beds.    These non-Amish retailers can often arrange a custom-crafted bed order with their Amish suppliers.
