Ben & Rose Release New GOSPEL Song: “But For The Blood”

Two weeks have gone by, and it’s time for another Ben & Rose song. They seem to be putting them out at a bit faster pace now – and I’ve got no complaints here 🙂

This time around – something a bit different. While they’ve mostly done Country tunes, this time around it’s a Gospel genre song – “just in time for Easter.”

Checking around, it looks like there are two different songs with the “But for the Blood” title. This version seems to be the one written by Mike Upright.

Though it’s described as a Gospel song, you’ll hear the tune has a nice Country-style jaunt to it (at least that’s how this layman hears it). I’ve also seen it described as “Southern Gospel”.

And in my view, the feel of the music contrasts with the heavy – though ultimately triumphant – theme of the song.

It is about a sinner feeling shame and unworthiness for his deeds. He was once on track for “Hell’s flame” – “but for the blood that cleansed and set me free.”

Ben sings lead, and delivers a great vocal here.

I’ve always liked his vocals, but here it sounds like he is singing in a bit different mode versus previous recordings (for lack of a better way to describe it). A nice clean robust sound with some “twang” to it.

Rose brings us some lovely background vocals, and there is some nice harmonica work wending its way through the tune. Love it!

If you hadn’t noticed, I’m having a ton of fun with these Ben & Rose tunes – I never thought I’d have an excuse to write about Country and related music on this Amish website, but here we are 🙂

Accentuating the video once again is some stunning aerial videography taken above and around Ragamuffin Hall, showing the surrounding valleys in early Spring bloom.

Nice visual work by producer Conrad Fisher to go along with the always-pristine audio!

I also appreciate moments like the one in the image below – capturing the dynamic between this lovely couple.

I don’t know Ben and Rose personally, but they seem like a great match. And their obvious shared love of – and gift for – music has already brought a lot of joy to a lot of people.

Just read the comments on their videos for evidence of that – or note that the half-dozen songs on their channel are approaching 4 million views already.
