Author: Haley Straw

Portrait of a woman with shoulder-length blond hair wearing a black top, seated at a desk with bookshelves in the background under purple lighting.
Haley Straw is a barefoot, homeschooling mom of six who possesses one of the most unique vantage points into the modern Plain world as an Amish taxi driver. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Haley now lives with her family in rural Missouri, where they are actively restoring a historic, century-old jailhouse.

Over years of driving, Haley has highlighted a personal map that spans 27 states and two different countries, safely delivering her Plain passengers to dozens of Amish communities for weddings, auctions, family gatherings, and specialized doctor appointments.

Because she is allowed to see deep inside the Amish world without ever being a part of it, her books capture the raw, humorous, and awkward moments of everyday Plain life that outsiders rarely get to see. Her true stories help readers slow down, laugh a little, and remember what matters most.
