Amish Youth Charged With Killing Amish Woman Gets A Trial Date
Samuel L. Hochstetler, an Amish 18-year-old charged with the murder of Amish woman Rosanna Kinsinger (28), recently had some important court dates set regarding his case in Meigs County, Ohio.
We now know when he’ll go to trial, along with the dates of two other pretrial hearings. From WSAZ:
MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio. (WSAZ) – Several trial dates have been set for Samuel Hochstetler, who was indicted for aggravated murder in Meigs County back in May.
Hochstetler’s pretrial hearing is set for Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. and a final pretrial hearing is set for Nov. 25 at 11 a.m.
A jury trial will take place Dec. 8 at 8 a.m.
So assuming no delays occur, Hochstetler will have his trial before the year is out, in December.
Hochstetler faces charges of murder, rape, kidnapping, and strangulation.
Rosanna Kinsinger was found deceased in her home back in March, in what were deemed suspicious circumstances.
Two months later, Hochstetler was arrested in connection with Kinsinger’s death in their small Amish community in southeastern Ohio.
Hostetler had previously lived in communities in Kentucky, before moving to Ohio several months prior to Rosanna’s death.
He later pled not guilty to the charges, which additionally carry sexual motivation and sexually violent predator specifications.
A side note: on writing titles for these posts, I’ve had a hard time settling on how to describe Hochstetler. At age 18, he is technically a man, by the law. He is also technically a “teen”. I’ve used both terms in previous headlines.
This time I’ve gone with “youth”, because that is one term the Amish use for people in this age 16 to early 20s-or-so age range. It’s an age when they’re typically “going with the youth” – participating in youth group activities, which can vary by community.
