New From Mike & Marty: “Go Rest High On That Mountain”

Nice new song just out from brother and sister duo Mike & Marty. “Go Rest High On That Mountain” is a song by country artist Vince Gill.
This song gives me similar vibes to the duo’s first studio song on YouTube, “Sing Me Back Home“. It’s a country tune with Christian themes, as you’ll see in the lyrics below.

Mike sings lead on this one; in their last one, a Dolly Parton cover, Marty had that duty. I think it’s neat to see them both get a turn as the main voice of a song.
Here are the moving lyrics. It seems to me this is a song both mournful and joyous at the same time.
Go Rest High On That Mountain by Vince Gill – Lyrics
I know your life
On earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You weren’t afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rainGo rest high on that mountain
Son your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a-shoutin’
Love for the Father and the SonOh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered ’round your grave to grieve
Wish I could see the angels faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing

Go rest high on that mountain
Son your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a-shoutin’
Love for the Father and the SonGo rest high on that mountain
Son your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a-shoutin’
Love for the Father and the Son
Go to heaven a-shoutin’
Love for the Father and the Son

The video is beautifully shot with the light streaming in from the stained glass window. Producer Conrad Fisher contributes multiple instruments on this one, including electric guitar, keys, and drums. As usual, they sound just great. Have a listen here:
