additional resources
Two items that I suggest be added are:
The Amish Way. Donald Kraybell,Steve Nolt and Steven Weaver-Zercher. The best book I’ve found on Amish theoology/ religious teachings
Concise Encyclopedia of Amish, Brethren, Hutterites and Mennonites edited by Donald Kraybell. The handiest quick reference tool available.
Concise Encyclopedia of Amish, Brethren, Hutterites and Mennonites edited by Donald Kraybill : I totally agree. I just finished to read (well, to discover) that massive dictionnary. I simply applaus for these great contents and this brillant idea !
By he way, for french readers, one book of the Pr Kraybill has been translated to french, in a publication house that sells also books about Mennonite and Huterrites for example. The link is here : http://www.xl6.com/articles/9782914144896-les-amish-une-enigme-pour-le-monde-moderne. It’s a very nice intorudtcion to Amish origins, beliefs, culture, habits, etc.
I’m not from this book haus :), but I have to say it’s the only reliable book in french about Amish. Common errors are numerous in other books…
Blessings to all,
Bob.
