I put this on my blog on WordPress.
I was a visiting scholar in SUNY Canton in 2010.And I am extremely interested in get any information about Amish people in North Country,NY.I really saw Amish people selling baskets and sitting in their buggies. This drives me to make a comparative study on nations between Chinese Yao and German Amish. Hope I can get contact with Karen and more others.
I live near Lancaster, PA and love
driving there to see the Amish.
I have just started reading Amish fiction. Any thing on the Amish I just have to read ! Would love to win. Have a great day
The Amish have probably grown sick of the commercialism that has grown about them in the Lancaster, Pa area and have decided to move to God’s Country (Where I was born and raised)
Fascinating story!

Relating to the Amish
The fact is….I enjoy being educated about the Amish faith as well as other faiths in the world. It’s interesting to learn that there are Swiss Amish because my genealogical background is Swiss. I’d be delighted to win this book and find out more about the fascinating Amish. Thank you for this giveaway and the chance to win this great book. I hope I win!

Fine book; out of date already
I bought and read this book soon after it came out last year; there are a large number of Amish now in the Central NY state area; many are my neighbors. Since she (Karen)published this book, there has been an influx of New Order Amish into the northern part of Madison County,(from Holmes County Ohio). The Georgetown area of Southern Madison County has seen a huge influx of Old Order Amish (most coming from northwest Penn, Steuben County NY, and the Conewango settlements of SW NY.) There are settlements near New Berlin, (in nearby Chenango County), and another one in Marathon, in Cortland County. Another group moved into SW Oneida County from the Indiana area. Karen’s book was well written but it will probably need an update every year or so.
Amish in Western New York
I am so glad that people are now able to find out about the Amish in New York, particularly in the Chautauqua and Cattaraugus county area. I live in Chautauqua county and we have many Amish families in this area. An Amish family just moved into a house just two miles away and the Amish do a lot of wood working projects for many of us. I belong to a Breast Cancer Survivor group and we now have an Amish lady who has joined our group. They are wonderful friends and neighbors. Thank you for your book – I’m really looking forward to reading it.
I would love to win this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amish watcher in New York and Virginia
I purchased the first edition of Karen’s book and would love to win this one. Amish from Heuvelton are moving into Essex County, on Lake Champlain. I am from Essex County and have many relatives there, so I am following this development with great interest. One of my sisters lives near the road between Port Henry and Westport. She spotted an Amish man driving a team toward Port Henry. She jumped in her car and followed him to a grocery store. He was amazed when she, in a cape dress and covering, approached him and introduced herself! If I win the book (which I don’t expect to), I’ll share it with her! In any case, keep up the good work!
