Amish Peach Harvest (Video)
Pennsylvania peach season is just getting into full swing. This is a nice simple video of an Amish family bringing in a haul of peaches, to be sold at their farm market.
In the video we see two children and presumably their father gathering peaches and moving them around in a horse-drawn wagon. The man uses a handy harness and box to collect the fruit. I assume this is the Smucker family (more below).
The peaches are destined for the Kissel Hill Fruit Farm, near Lititz. I don’t believe I’ve been there, or at least not recently. The business has some sophisticated marketing for an Amish fruit and food market. The video is really well-produced, made by the 717 Drone Guys. You can see the drone is used for some low-flying shots for nice effect.
Looking online I see a number of positive reviews. They even have a pretty snazzy website for the business. On the “About” page we learn:

Lititz is in the north of Lancaster County and outside the most heavily-Amish areas. But it could make a nice stop if you want a destination outside the Bird-in-Hand-Intercourse-Strasburg heart of the community.

Glad you liked it Randy. Felt we needed something simple and positive given that it seems there’s been a lot of bad Amish-related news to report lately. More marketing than you’ll normally see attached to the typical Amish farm stand, but good for them.

Thank you for the simple beauty of nature, which continues to produce & awe within the world. It remains despite any evil.
I notice the little girl doesn’t seem to be wearing a head covering, even though she has long hair and is wearing a dress. (Looks like a very comfortable and practical cut, at that – so long as you’ve got someone handy to do the buttons for you).
It would be interesting to know what is going on with the head covering thing – is this a group where young girls or girls before baptism don’t wear one, or is it a situation where girls and even women don’t necessarily bother to keep it on in some types of less formal situation? (If the cap is fastened on with dress pins, I can imagine it being a bit of a liability in an orchard – if it caught on a branch).
I am emphatically not criticising, just interested. Variations in this type of practice and the reasons for them are often quite illuminating about the way any community thinks!
