Censuses
I have been trying to find my family’s Amish branches on US censuses. I know they lived in Lacaster PA. There are Yoders and Stoltzfuses but that is like looking for Smiths and Joneses among the English. How can I locate my ancestors among the Amish? Are they likely to show up on census rolls? i have looked up some Yoders in Lancaster onthe 1940 census but none appear to be Amish (mostly because of occupations that are not Amish, such as bus driver, plumber and nurse. Any information would be helpful.
Louise
Louise,
Maybe you can get a clue from the Yoder Newsletter,
http://www.yodernewsletter.org/YNL/vol05.html
Another source may be the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society,
