Looking for Daniel Miller from Stoddard

Met this man at the New Richmond Auction on March 1st, 2014 and purchased a bedroom set from him. (sleigh Bed) I would like to turn in the Queen size and purchase a King. We are from Pine City MN and it is a long trip to Stoddard, WI from us. Wondering if he has them on hand or if we need to order?? Whatever, we would like to do it in one trip. Thank you so much. Hope you can get back to me. Either use my email above or call 320-629-5555 my husband will answer our calls because they get forwarded to his cell phone for our business. Thanks again, Curt & Jody Kruse

Millers Woodworking is above so I’m hoping this will reach him.?

      1. Jody this is just a directory of Amish-related businesses, so odds are low that Daniel would see this. You’ll need to contact him directly.

If there’s no phone number in these listings it means we couldn’t find one when we were compiling them. If you have his number, or the contact to someone who might know him, I’d suggest giving a call.

        Send a letter!

The only way to contact Mr Miller is to visit or write him a letter. I was at his home this morning and he asked “how did you hear about me?” I said “on the internet!” He was astonished. He couldn’t help me (I was looking for a door maker) but sent me on to someone who could. He is a kind, gracious man so write to him, that’s your only option. Good luck. Ellen

          carriage doors

I am looking for someone in the Wisconsin Amish community that could make me two carriage style doors. Can anyone recommend someone? Thanks!

          1. Amish made cabinet doors

If you are seeking custom made cabinet doors in a variety of design and wood species, I beleive we can help you.
I have purchased doors from a Amish owned and run business for 29 years for my kitchen remodeling business. in 2008, after discussing with the owner, we began to offer cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and dovetail drawer boxes on the internet.
Products are built expressly to your specifications and are not “stock” items. Normal shipping is within 20 working days.

          Doors

I am also looking for a door maker. Could you give me the information this Mr, Miller gave you?

    2. Amy L Cleveland

We had an exterior door made by Amos from Willow Island Doors in Dalton WI not quite a year ago. Although the door looks beautiful, it is painfully obvious that he didn’t dry the wood before making the door as it has warped terribly since we have had it. We have tried adjusting the door jam to compensate for the doors inadequacies but still have great difficulty opening the door. Amos refused to stand behind his work and told us there was no warranty. We were basically screwed out of our $1000 and feel scammed.

    3. Sewing cabinets

I am in search of custom sewing cabinet makers in the Wisconsin/Illinois area. Any recommendations will be appreciated!

    4. Maple Lane gives “Amish Made” a BAD NAME!

My involvement with Vernon & Raymond Bontrager, owners of Maple Lane Woodshop, began in January of 2019 when I ordered two Black Walnut night stands. I was quoted 10 weeks, they arrived in 16 weeks, and with a price tag of $700 each they weren’t cheap. Unbenoticed to me, Maple Lane acted as a distributor to another Amish shop out of Indiania. The workmanship was VERY poor, wood filler on the top, edges and legs, drawer faces had runs and missed areas of stain and the legs had nicks & scratches from shipping. The best part was they were stained the wrong shade. I was matching a bed head & foot board. This is where the “fun” started. The Bontrager’s told me they couldn’t do anything about the workmanship as it would involve stripping and restaining. They didn’t have time to do it and I would have to pay shipping and labor to have the Indiania Amish shop fix the night stands. They told me if I didn’t take them I would loose my deposit, which was $700, AND they would charge me a 20% restocking fee. They added I got what I paid for, if I don’t like, sell them on EBAY or Craigslist. What?! The dad, Raymond, shouldn’t interface with customers. He told me, he was paying, Vernon, his son, by the hour, hurry-up and pay what owe, they don’t come with a warranty. In the 4 months I was waiting for my nightstands, I referred others to Maple Lane. ALL of which had complaints of poor workmanship, rude business practices, they don’t stand behind their work, long lead times, they give the AMISH craftsman a BAD NAME. This Amish business should go OUT of Business! They’re plenty other Amish shops that I would recommend, this one, stay away from!! I bought the nightstands for $1400 and sold them for $550, I lost out of $850 and over 4 months of waiting. Crappy!

comment to Maple Lane gives Amish Made a bad name

In a customer based business, it is the duty to please the customer. Maple Lane under cuts his competition to try to run them out of business.
If he ordered it wrong, it should have been his responsible to correct it at his cost. If it had been damaged from shipping from Indiana, the proper thing to do would have been to sent it back on the semi. The trucker would not charge for a damaged piece.
If the shop in Indiana had made a mistake, they would have taken the piece back and covered the cost to ship it back.
Night stands would not take more than 10 weeks. Assuming he ordered them promptly. He may have done them himself because some Indiana craftsman don’t like to deal with him.
And other Amish furniture shops in his area would have taken only 10 weeks and would have not charged for restocking and would have made it right.

Oh and don’t get me started about his cabinets I know in installer who refuses to install his cabinets because he says that they’re poor quality and not even sure how they will stay up on the wall.

        1. Maple Lane

There are some bad comments on here about Maple Lane. Where is this Maple Lane located? I’m currently getting a quote from a Maple Lane but I’m not sure if it’s the same one.
