13th Annual Beeville Amish Auction (Bee County, Texas)

We once had a monthly Amish auction update thanks to the hard work of one helpful reader, but there are too many of them for me to keep up with on my own. However, from time to time I like to promote upcoming auction events, especially ones you readers keep me posted on.

Bob has kindly passed along the following notice of an upcoming auction in the Beeville, Texas community. The 2-day event will take place next week, on November 6th & 7th.

We have covered this auction in the past, and this being one of the more unusual Amish communities it has gotten a good bit of attention here on the site. Below is the auction bill courtesy of Bob (as is the photo above). I’m not able to upload a larger image due to site parameters, but I think even the small print should be readable:

The venue is Borntrager’s Auction Barn (4029 Gaitan Lane, Beeville, TX 78102). You can see the schedule above; Wednesday is things like furniture, home items, quilts, and small animals. Thursday is more about farm equipment, tools, horses and related vehicles, and so on. This is a consignment auction.

There is no info here, but I’d expect there would be some food available. It says “no food vendors”, so I’m guessing that means that the Amish will have that part covered, because it would be odd to have a two-day auction with nothing available for an empty stomach.

      Beeville Amish

I always feel somewhat sorry for the Beeville Amish when I read about them.
Summers in Texas, all parts of Texas, are horrendously hot, insects and critters are poisonous and it’s fairly inhospitable there. I can’t imagine why they’d want to stay there. Hopefully, they’ve found ways to cool their homes.

It would be really enjoyable to go to one of their auctions… One of these days.
